Solidarity with Ukraine

As the Dean of the College of Arts, I feel compelled to express formally a deep commitment to and support of the people of Ukraine. In our daily lives, in our own small worlds, we operate in peace, we look to cultivate peace for our families and friends. Russia’s attacks on Ukraine are shocking and catastrophic to the whole world’s hopes for peace and safety.

We recognize that students, faculty, and staff may want to access campus supports for those of us affected. Those supports are detailed here: https://news.uoguelph.ca/2022/02/university-statement-re-conflict-in-eastern-europe-supports-av. But I also recognize that many of us want to offer material help. If you do, below you will find links to support Ukrainians impacted by this war.

This article lists resources to help provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian refugees and those who remain in Ukraine. Here you will find links to Red Cross, UNICEF, UNHCR, Save the Children and other similar organizations that address humanitarian needs: 

Events such as these remind us about the fragility of peace, raise our awareness of conflict around the world as well as issues of territorial justice here at home.
